Yesterday, as I was walking out of the door to head home from work, I received a text message. It was from my daughter and it said “what’s for dinner tonight?”
REALLY!!! I haven’t even made it home yet and they are already asking me that question! I absolutely LOATHE that question!!! Why do I loathe that question? Because I have the pickiest eaters in the entire world,
including my husband. When we go get a hamburger, my family is the ones who order it plain and dry. Eating take-out usually requires driving to at least 2 different places sometimes 3. By the way my kids are not toddlers either, they are half grown!!!
So deciding on what to have for dinner is quite a chore. When I find something that everyone likes, it is treasured. I keep these rare finds in a precious place…aka my recipe box! Just in case there is anyone out there who feels my pain, I thought I would share a week’s worth of meals for picky eaters and the grocery list. I hope to do this every week to remind myself to make my own meal plan as well, to avoid the frustration that occurs when this dreaded question is posed…
Meal Plan Week 1:
Sunday: Beef Stroganoff (I do have to pick the mushrooms out of the Golden Mushroom Soup, on this one, because they are pretty big chunks and no one likes mushrooms! I just pour the soup in a strainer and pour my water over it, stirring until it is separated from the nasty little mushrooms (yeah, I’m included on this one!)
Monday: Tater Tot Casserole (I had to make my kids try this one because it “looked funny” and of course, they liked it. Now it is a regular item in our meal plan)
Tuesday: Buffalo Chicken Pasta (This is probably my family’s favorite along with everyone I have cooked it for. It sounds spicy, but that all depends on the ratio of ranch and buffalo sauce you add)
Wednesday: Burrito Enchiladas (I always make something super easy on Wednesday’s because of church and this is an easy recipe)
Thursday: Cheese Ravioli (We sometimes use beef ravioli because my husband does not love just the cheese)
Friday: Meatball Subs and Chips (We try to make it something fun on Fridays)
Saturday: Round Steak and Potato Supper (Super Easy, Just toss it all in the crock pot)
WARNING!!! THERE ARE NOT A LOT OF VEGETABLES INCLUDED
If you are big on veggies you may have to add them in…I, myself, gave up on them a long time ago. When your husband won’t hardly eat them it is hard to get your kids to.
