I have always loved DIY projects. To me, when you do it yourself, it brings more charachter to the piece . I inherited this lovely coffee table, from my parents, when we bought our new house. With a little paint, I was sure that it would fit right in. It was initially an oak color so I painted it turquoise…
And it fit in wonderfully…when I had this rug…
…but if you have been reading for very long, you know that I am now tired of bright colors and I want to paint everything white! Thanks to Fixer-Upper!! So my table definitely needed a makeover.
I wasn’t sure what exactly I wanted to do with it when I began. I had some chalk paint left over from another DIY project (amazing stuff).
I painted the table with the chalk paint, (it took 2 coats) but I still didn’t like the way it looked.
The top was kind of weird to me, so I knew that I wanted to do something else. I thought why not make an ottoman.
This material was marked $7.00 a yard…when I got up to pay, it was only $2.00
After this I hammered some upholstery nails on the top, to match my couches. I really want to add more but haven’t yet. I just set the upholstered board on top of my coffee table, and there you have it…an ottoman. This entire project cost me about $12 (not including the paint).
It looks so much better now!!! But honestly, it probably won’t stay black for long!!!!
